The fifth annual Arkansas Ride for the Cure will get underway Saturday, July 27, and will honor breast cancer survivor Mrs. Paula Pickens of Jonesboro.
The recreational ride includes 10-mile family fun ride and 20-mile and 50-mile advanced rides through scenic Crowley’s Ridge in Northeast Arkansas. Proceeds go to Susan G. Komen Arkansas and will be used to provide funds for education, screening and treatment programs for breast cancer.
The ride will take place rain or shine and will begin at 8 a.m. at the medical entrance of St. Bernards Health & Wellness, 1416 East Matthews Ave.
Registration can be accomplished by going to racesonline.com and clicking on Komen Arkansas Ride for the Cure. Registration is $30 per rider for the 10-mile route and $50 per rider for the 20- and 50-mile routes. Interested persons who are unable to participate can sign up as “spirit riders” for $20.
A limited number of jerseys will be available. Men’s jerseys and women’s sleeveless jerseys will be $75; men’s bibs will be $100; and women’s shorts will be $100.
Ride events will get underway with 6:30 a.m. check in and packet pickup and a 7:30 a.m. welcome along with recognition of this year’s ride honoree, Mrs. Paula Pickens of Jonesboro.
Helmets are required for all riders.
